Ryan's Story:

Ryan was born November 9, 2019 and doctors realized he was having difficulties breathing. Doctors diagnosed him with a tracheoesophageal fistula which is an abnormal connection between the esophagus and the trachea. He was also discovered to have an imperforate anus.

Ryan was life-flighted to Medical City Children's Hospital in Dallas where doctors performed corrective surgery for the esophagus. After nearly a month, Ryan was able to eat a full bottle without being fed through a tube. Ryan came home with a colostomy bag and will have to undergo another surgery.

On March 2nd, 2020, he was diagnosed with VACTREL syndrome. An MRI that was performed, confirmed that Ryan had a Tethered Spinal Cord which completed the trio for VACTREL syndrome, along with the TE Fistula and imperforate anus. In addition, he has to have an inguinal hernia repaired.

On March 3rd, Ryan's surgeon has scheduled part 1 of 3 surgeries starting March 30th. The doctor will start by repairing Ryan's imperforate anus and his inguinal hernia. After this surgery, Ryan will have to make trips every 2 weeks to Dallas for clinical.
