TBLA 2021 Scholarships Awarded to Lake Area Students; Includes Shelbyville's Williams

May 4, 2021 - The Toledo Bend Lake Association (TBLA) has awarded two college scholarships to area students. The 2021 Glynn Carver Memorial Scholarship for $3000 has been awarded to Logan Williams of Shelbyville High School. Logan plans to attend Texas A&M University in the fall and will be studying to earn a veterinarian degree. Logan has been very active in many community and school organizations, including FFA, Beta Club, JCC/Young Ambassadors, UIL, The Shelbyville Military Marching Band, five sports, Ensemble, and Student Council. He has also achieved an outstanding scholastic record. 

TBLA established the Glynn Carver Memorial Scholarship in May of 2019 in recognition of the contributions that Mr. Carver made throughout his life to Toledo Bend and the surrounding communities as well as the pioneering impact that he had on the fishing industry beyond the borders of Toledo Bend.

The TBLA Board also awarded a TBLA Scholarship for outstanding achievement for $2000 to Autumn Griffin of Hemphill High School. Autumn plans to attend Stephen F. Austin and seek a degree in biology or environmental engineering, with the goal to ultimately earn a degree in medicine. Autumn’s extracurricular activities include the National Honor Society, senior class secretary, yearbook staff, Cheerleader Captain, varsity volleyball team, varsity basketball and FFA. She also has an outstanding scholastic record and is involved in community service activities.
