Donald Edward Amos, 88 of Timpson Texas, met with his heavenly father on Sunday July 14, 2019. He was born in Houston Texas on July 10, 1931; moving to Timpson during his youth where he graduated from Timpson High School in 1950. Don married his high school sweetheart, Elaine Billingsley on June 25, 1950 and they had recently celebrated 69 years together as husband and wife.

During this life on earth he accomplished many things and was a successful businessman in so many avenues. Many people have said they never knew one man to retire from so many different careers. After marriage, Don and Elaine began their journey in Pasadena, Texas. He was a skilled electrician and after years there, retired from Diamond Alkaline. They decided to move their family back to Timpson where he opened Amos Foods, the local grocery store. Don owned, managed, and would even make home deliveries of food to those unable to travel or shop for themselves. When he felt the grocery days were done, he opened and ran Ace Hardware, and he was definitely everyone's "helpful hardware man. "Moving on from this business he helped in the planning and arrival of a new business to his town, Avian Farms. He ran the hatchery in his hometown which created a multitude of job opportunities for the community. He was committed to the betterment of anything he was involved in. It was with this drive and commitment that he was honored to be the Mayor of Timpson. He loved his town and anyone that knew him was aware of that fact.

He played an instrumental role in the beginning days of Woodland Christian Church. He served as an elder and his love for Jesus was evident and never doubted. On Sundays past, you could find him leading the song service with his deep bass voice while his devoted wife played the piano.

During all his life adventures he kept a love for farming and working his cattle, John Deere and of course John Wayne.
