Ellis Van Woods

Mr. Ellis Van Woods of Broaddus, Texas, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at his residence at the age of 92.

Mr. Woods, known as "E.V." or "Stubby," was born June 18, 1927, in Monroe, Louisiana, to parents Van Woods and Nettie Mae (Thompson) Woods. He had been a longtime resident of Houston, Texas, before moving to the Broaddus area several years ago. He was a master carpenter in home building construction and served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps. "Bro. Stubby" was a dedicated member of Trinity Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Lorane (Sisson) Woods, in 2005; daughter, Judy Lee, in 2014; as well has his parents and siblings.

A host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2020, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.

Funeral services are set for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Trinity Baptist Church, located at 310 FM 83 East in Broaddus, Texas, with Pastor Don Lofton officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, located off USFS Road 317 near Broaddus, Texas.

Pallbearers: Wayne Lee, Ronald Stone, Harold Derby, Gaylon Bryan, Freddie Bryan, and Jerry McGalin. Honorary pallbearers: Shiloh Stone and Carson Lee.
