Jimmie Burk Moreland, 91, of Timpson, Texas, passed away on July 10, 2020 in Timpson, Texas. He was born on October 2, 1928 in Keller, Texas, to the late Robert Wesley Moreland and Lyddia Jane (Oldham) Moreland. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 13, 2020 at Taylor Funeral Home, 511 Ross Graves Dr., Timpson, Texas, 75975, with Bro. Carroll Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Corinth Cemetery, FM 1970N, Timpson, Texas.
Visitation will be held prior to the service Monday, July 13, 2020 beginning at 9AM at Taylor Funeral Home, Timpson, Texas.
Jimmie Burk graduated from Sam Houston High School and worked two years in the accounting department of Houston Natural Gas before joining the Air Force in 1952. He went to Cadet School in the Air Force, graduating in 1953 as a 2nd Lt. with an aero rating of Celestial Navigator/Radar Operator before going to aircraft maintenance officer school. He spent a 2 year tour overseas in Okinawa, Japan serving in the Vietnam War. He married the love of his life, Ethel Scott, on June 19, 1953 in Pickering, Louisiana, and the two spent over 67 years together. They raised three children and made their home in Timpson, Texas in the Corinth Community. He retired from the Air Force in 1972 as Lt. Col. Jimmie Burk has served as president of the local AARP Chapter of TAGAS and a member of Timpson American Legion.

Jimmie Burk is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lyddia Moreland; brothers, Jack Moreland, Billy Moreland; sisters, Maxine Cecil, Lizzie Belle Hulsey, Ozell Stutes, and Margie Hilliard.
