It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Johnnie Paul Dunn, a beloved father, husband, and friend, who peacefully left us on Saturday September 28, 2024, at the age of 84. He has left a legacy of love and strength and will forever be remembered for the incredible impact he made on the lives of those around him.
Born on May 29, 1940, in Lufkin, Texas, He was a man of strong character, immense kindness, and unwavering love for his family. He was the pillar of strength and the guiding light for his family, always leading with compassion, patience, and understanding. He was an avid hunter and fisherman his whole life, even served as a fishing guide on Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn for many years along with his brother, Joe.
As a father, Johnnie was unparalleled. He dedicated his life to ensuring the happiness and well-being of his children, instilling in them the values of love, respect, and hard work.
He was married to his soulmate, Peggy, for 46 years. Their love was a beautiful example of devotion and partnership, and together they built a life filled with cherished memories, laughter, and love. The bond they shared together was so special, there will never be another one like it.

Dad was so appreciative of his friendships with Charles Havard, Bill and Karen Schrom, Justin and Kira Matkin, Trace Swayze, Terry Soileau, and Ronnie Foster.
Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that Johnnie’s love will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched. His legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to his family and friends.
We will forever miss you, Dad. Rest in peace knowing your love will continue to guide us every day.
