Lillie Mae Thompson Townsend

Lillie Mae Thompson Townsend, 93, of Pasadena, Texas, passed away on May 30, 2023, in Pasadena, Texas. She was born on January 26, 1930, in Shelby County, Texas, to the late Kirby Jerome Roe and Myrtice Boyd Roe Ramsey.

A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Mangum Funeral Home, Center, Texas.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 9, 2023, from 5-7PM at Mangum Funeral Home.

Lillie was born and raised in Shelby County. She graduated from Joaquin High School Class of 1948. Lillie enjoyed playing basketball and volleyball in high school.  She married the love of her life, Harold Thompson, shortly after graduating. They raised four children. The Lord called Harold home in 1987 and later Lillie married Buddy Townsend, a lifelong friend. She was an excellent seamstress. Lillie loved to bake and cook and could do this in record time. She was a member of the Pasadena Women’s City Bowling League where she won several patches for perfect games. Lillie loved the Lord and served him through South Avenue Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas and later Paxton Methodist Church where she was the church treasurer for many years. She also served at the Senior Center in Joaquin. Her favorite trip was to the Holy Lands where she saw places Jesus walked. Lille loved people. Her compassionate, caring character took her to great places serving others. Lillie was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family and especially loved the hugs from the grandkids.

Lille is preceded in death by her husbands, Harold Thompson, Buddy Townsend; sons, Harold Thompson Jr., Robert Thompson; daughter, Nancy Thompson; parents, Kirby Jerome “Chief” Roe and Myrtice Roe Ramsey; brothers, Jesse James Roe, Charles Phil Roe; sisters, Lula Mae Hartley, Levada Reeves.
