Linda Atkinson Anderson

07/29/2020

Linda Atkinson Anderson, 87, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020. She was born March, 26, 1933 to Jesse and Valerie Atkinson in Montgomery County. She attended and graduated from Conroe High School and studied at Southwestern College of Business.

She was working at the Ford Motor Company in Conroe when a young Aggie became Assistant County Agent and she made it her mission to catch his eye. With the help of a Ford Farmer’s Almanac, she did just that. She and Joe D. shared 61 years of marriage before his passing in August 2019. They moved to Center in 1958 and their first Sunday in town they united with the First Baptist Church.  Linda served faithfully in many capacities, most notably as Sunday School teacher, beginning with the nursery, then with the youth girls (of which many long-lasting relationships were born), and as leader of the Rachel & Martha class.

While Joe D worked as, first a County Agent, then an Insurance Agent, Linda was busy raising their 5 children. And since she had so many of her own, she decided to open her home as a child care facility. Many area children were welcomed and shown love in her home and we have fond memories of those years.

As the children grew up, she began working in the insurance industry alongside Joe D. She continued to work through the remainder of her life. She was an active member of the Women’s Reading Club and Golden Harvest Ministries.
