Karen, lovingly known throughout her life as “Cookie”, was born in Logansport, LA on August 17, 1949 to parents Lloyd “Shug” Creech and Betty VanCleave Creech. She died peacefully at home in Center, TX on November 3, 2019.

She is survived by:

Brothers:
Billy Creech of Logansport, LA

Along with several sister-in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Cookie is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Thompson, her parents, Lloyd “Shug” and Betty VanCleave Creech, and brother, Danny Creech.

As an active and devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Logansport for many years, Cookie taught Sunday School and assisted with the church’s children’s activities. She was lovingly known as “Aunt Cookie” and “The Candy Lady” by the children. Other ministry areas that she served on included being a member of the Building and Grounds Committee, Special Occasions Committee, and the Women’s Ministry Team. Cookie was an active member of the WMU, and was thrilled to travel with members of her church family to Kentucky to see and experience “The Ark” earlier this year.

Always a dedicated worker, Cookie was a committed bookkeeper and office manager for Boles Enterprises in Shelby County for over 30 years. She was the owner of Austin Street Marketplace in Center, TX where she dealt in antiques, restored furniture, and produced beautiful hand painted artwork.

Although Logansport was her hometown, Cookie was also active in her adopted home of Center and Shelby County, Texas. She served as a founding member of the Lake Area Art League, and as an organizer for the happenings at the Shelbyville Hill Festival for several years. It was her pleasure to support various other local organizations and civic activities with her skills and talents, always leaving her trademark gift of beauty with her unique flair.

Cookie woke her social media friends up each day with her “Good Morning” posts in addition to making those same lucky friends smile with her daily humor. She freely shared her God given talents as an artist and decorator with all. The lives that Cookie touched were indeed blessed and enriched by knowing this Godly lady that will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to the First Baptist Church of Logansport.
