Randall Wayne Massey, 69, passed away June 21, 2023 at his home in Houston, TX.

Memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

Randy was born October 18, 1953, in Center Texas to Cecil and Mary Eldred Jones Massey. Growing up he loved being outside with his brothers, Scott, Johnnie Hi, and Mark, driving cars and riding dirt bikes around Center. He was an avid hunter, and enjoyed hunting deer, ducks and geese. He was the founder of the annual “The Hunt” at the Beck Farm near Huxley, attended by many locals and his other pals from Houston. Randy was the hunt, as he would say. Randy was more interested in everyone having fun, eating and drinking well, than he was actually hunting himself. He was also a man who enjoyed working with his hands, and in the early days he worked at Massey Feed Co, Cecil’s feed store. While in high school, Randy operated a fireworks stand at Christmas and the Massey fireworks stand became a magnet for gatherings of friends and family for much fun and shenanigans.

Randy loved to name things and activities, and he coined the “Atomic Rooster” for himself.

Randy graduated from Stephen F. Austin University in 1976 then decided to further his education and attend Pharmacy School at the University of Houston. After graduating from Pharmacy School in 1978, he realized his calling was in oil and gas.

Randy was an accomplished businessman in the Oil and Gas Industry, creating two companies, M&R Exploration and then Mass Energy Co. On top of being a hard-working man, Randy was the life of the party. He was a life member at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and entered his team, Asleep At The Grill, in the cook-off and enjoyed the company of family and friends.

The love of Randy’s life was Carolyne Massey. Randy and Carolyne enjoyed many years of happy married life together with their four children.
