Wardlow Woodrow Oliver, known to his family and friends as “Joe” was born to Austin Willis “A.W.” and Hazel Buckner Oliver on Friday, September 6, 1946 in Center, Shelby County, Texas. Joe passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at his home after a brief illness at the age of 72.

Joe grew up in Center on a rural farm with his parents and five siblings where he learned the value of family and hard work. He met and married his wife of 53 years Linda Thomas on October 14, 1965. They lived in various cities and states until settling in Center to raise their own family.

Joe loved the outdoors, working on his farm, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Nieces, nephews, family friend Michael Neal and many other friends and family.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents Austin Willis and Hazel Buckner Oliver, two younger brothers Thomas Harold and Johnny Wayne Oliver, and a brother-in-law, Walter Edward Thomas.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 1:00pm at the chapel of Watson and Sons Funeral Home, 1554 US Hwy 7 East, Center, Texas 75935; Pastor, Mike Oliver officiating.

Fellowship will be held at Spann’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, US Hwy 96 S, CR 1015, Center, Texas 75935 immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Buckner Cemetery, PO Box 544, San Augustine, Texas 75972.
