March 22, 2018 - A large group gathered at the office of Dr. Dixon Golden on March 16, 2018 to wish him a happy 40th anniversary in business. Dr. Golden thanked everyone for coming, "I rolled into Center, Texas at an early age and the rest of it is history, I guess. I wasn't married, didn't have any children. Shelby County has always been a second home; it's where I grew up with my grandparents but this community accepted me, has loved me, been nice to me. And I will be forever grateful."
Shelby County Chamber of Commerce President Deborah Chadwick spoke as well praising Dr. Golden for not only his career successes but especially for his community involvement. Golden was recognized for his passion for education and what he has done over the years as a champion for the education of our children.
Chadwick then presented Dr. Golden with a plaque reading, "This is in Celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Golden Eye Clinic. Thank you for your commitment and dedication to providing exceptional care and service. Golden Eye Clinic 1978-2018."
During the event, Dr. Golden and his wife Melody gave much praise to the Golden Eye Clinic staff, present and past. Mrs. Golden said, "We are so grateful, specifically to our staff... this isn't our practice, it's not my practice, it's not his practice, but the Lord has blessed Dixon with the ability to steward His practice."
Everyone attending enjoyed refreshments. Shelby Savings Bank cooked hot dogs and fries in the parking lot as part of the celebration.
