May 16, 2017 - Members of the Shelbyville Community gathered Tuesday, May 16, 2017 on the mound at the youth ball fields before a baseball game to pray for the Victor Lee family and those affected by the tragic bus crash.

Greg McDonald, Shelbyville Youth Sports President, gave an emotional speech, “My kids and all of y’all’s kids are probably the most important things in my life by far. Yesterday, we lost Victor Lee in a horrible bus crash.” He spoke about what he has learned about Victor who attended United Pentecostal Church and was an active youth member there setting an example for others. McDonald said he also learned Victor was saved a couple of weeks ago.

Shelby County Judge Allison Harbison said a few words as well encouraging families, “We need to remember all the people who were affected by this terrible accident. We especially need to remember the family of Victor Lee. Remember his family, his friends, his school friends, the teachers, everyone that loved him and cared for him. And just remember tonight when you go to bed, your kids are here and love them and tell them you love them. Remain strong. Be a family like this community always has been.”

Bro. Chris Collins, pastor of McClelland Church, said a prayer asking for God’s comfort and His peace and His strength over the community and those suffering loss. He prayed for a speedy and full recovery for those with injuries.

Trent Sims, a friend of Victor Lee, then walked to second base and released a balloon with a message tied to it in memory of Victor Lee.
