Joaquin Woman Arrested for Murder, Sheriff's Office Investigating Murder

March 6, 2017 - According to the Shelby County Jail arrest book, the Sheriff's Department arrested Lisa Renea Cordova, 50 of Joaquin, for the charge of murder. She was booked into the jail at 2:15am, March 6, 2017.

Michael Cordova, age 55, was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Pct 3, Margie Anderson at 12midnight on CR 3485 at a residence in Williams Trailer Park. He was picked up from the scene by Watson & Sons Funeral Home.

No additional information is available at this time and no bond has been set.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a murder that occurred March 5 at approximately 10 p.m. on County Road 3490 in Joaquin.

When deputies arrived on scene, 52 year-old Michael Lane Cordova of Joaquin, was found lying in a bed with multiple stab wounds to the left side of his abdomen, left thigh and left ankle.

Lisa Cordova, wife of the victim, told officers the two were involved in an altercation when Michael came home after being at a fish fry and drinking alcohol. Lisa stated Michael was abusive to her and kicked her out of the bed. She stated she then grabbed a knife from the top of a nearby cabinet and stabbed the knife towards Michael. Lisa stated she was unable to see Michael because the room was dark, but that she did not believe she ever made contact with the victim.

Lisa told officers that Michael said, “You got me.” Lisa stated she went to watch television after it appeared Michael was through fighting.

The couple’s son, Michael Cody Cordova came home after the altercation. Lisa told officers that she put Michael Cody, who was also intoxicated, in the bed with his father. Michael Cody told officers that his mother woke him up some time later to inform him that his father was dead.

Justice of the Peace, Pct. 3, Margie Anderson pronounced the victim dead at 12:01 a.m. March 6.

Lisa Cordova was charged with Murder (F-1) and is currently being held in the Shelby County jail on a $50,000 bond.

This case is under investigation and no further information is being released at this time.
