Town and Country RE Celebrating 50th Anniversary, New Owner

October 17, 2016 - Town and Country Real Estate is celebrating 50 fantastic years of great service and new owner/broker Jodi Fountain on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 12noon to 2pm.

Jodi Fountain became the new Owner and Broker for Town and Country Real Estate on September 1, 2016. Fountain said, "I've been with Town & Country for 15 years but you could say that I did grow up in the company because my Momma (Genny Wright) was a Realtor here since 1982 and then of course until she passed in '09. So, I was always here, in and out, then I went to work for them 15 years ago."

The company is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year, Fountain explained, "Town and Country started in 1966. Malcolm [Weaver] originally got his license in the 50s but it wasn't until 1966 that he established Town and Country Real Estate and then he took on agents like John Tyson. This is actually our 50th year in business."

Reflecting, Fountain spoke about Weaver's vision for the company, "He started Town and Country because he wanted there to be a local place were people could come and do Real Estate with people they could trust, that were professional, that practiced morals and ethics and that is what he has taught his realtors through the years. So, we plan on and pledge to continue that, and of course, if we can continue to grow we will, but we certainly keep in mind the things he taught us, because those were the basics, those were where you should start to begin with and then it's up to you to go from there."

Town and Country Real Estate's agents are independent contractors. Fountain praised their dedication saying, "We don't have set hours but they work from 6-7 o'clock in the morning, until 8-9 o'clock at night and even on the weekends. There is no Monday through Friday, 8 to 5, they try very hard to accommodate the clients and the customers which is what you've got to do."

She introduced the Town and Country team, "Mark Weaver will continue to hang his license here as a broker. We have Margaret McBride, Bill Hughes, Alma Jaimes, Nikki Joubert, Rhonda Proffitt, Anittra Adkison, Kaleigh Jones, of course myself, and Pam Phelps actually has a license here. And then our office assistant is Cindy Mathis, and she's pretty phenomenal."

Reflecting on Weaver's influence on her work ethics and principles, Fountain said, "He encouraged people, if you have something in mind you want to do, you have to work at it and achieve it, and if he could help in some way he would. He used to tell the story about one of the biggest sales of his life was a man that came in. He looked like he had just come from the mountains, beard, overalls, so your first thought is 'oh, this guy doesn't have money' and he wants to go look at this big expensive piece of property. The guy ended up paying cash for it. So, you certainly cannot judge a book by its cover. We continue that too, no matter who comes in we treat them fairly, well you have to, as a good human being you should."

Jodi is married to Raymond Fountain and they have three sons. Genny Wright, her mother, serviced Panola County and Shelby County. Wright was there when the office was located on Tenaha Highway and when it relocated to Austin Street and then here to Nacogdoches Street. When thinking about growing up in 'Town and Country,' Fountain expressed her excitement about her kids growing up in 'Town and Country' as she did and is looking forward to the next 50 years.

Town and Country Real Estate is located at 114 Nacogdoches Street, Center, Texas 75935.
