He spoke about being a Head Start student and how it is important to be a part of their children's lives saying, "First thing you have to do is step up to the plate. You have got to take responsibiltiy and you always have to be a part of your kids life. A parent that is involved in their kids life is a big part of how successful of a life that they will have in the future."

Head Start promotes school readiness of children under 5 from low-income families through education, health, social and other services. Special awards were presented to the parents for keeping their child up to date on medical exams and screenings. Parents were recognized for achievements in their lives which helps the children as well.

According to the Head Start website, Family well-being: Parents and families are supported in achieving their own goals, such as housing stability, continued education, and financial security.
