What-A-Melon 5K to Benefit Children’s Advocacy Center, New Race Course (Form Added)

Rotary members and Shelby County Children's Advocacy Center staff stand together to raise funds.

Race sponsors are Boles Feed, JBA Financial Services, and Farmers State Bank

July 5, 2017 (Form) - The Rotary Club of Center will be hosting its 6th annual What-A-Melon 5K and Fun Run, Saturday, July 8th beginning at the John D. Windham Civic Center.

Each year Rotary has chosen a local non-profit organization in which to donate a majority of the proceeds of this event. In years past, we have donated to wonderful organizations such as the Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library, Center Softball Association, Scouting, and Shelby County Outreach Ministries. This year Rotary is donating to the Shelby County Children’s Advocacy Center.

The Shelby County Children's Advocacy Center provides community education on recognizing, reporting, and preventing child abuse; assists with investigations of child abuse allegations; and provides mental health counseling free of charge to child victims of abuse. Without the communities support these services would not be possible.

The fun run will begin at 7:00AM and the 5K at 7:30AM at the John D. Windham Civic Center. Both events are for people of all ages. You can walk or run either event. Strollers are acceptable. T-shirts will be available for the first 125 participants.

Rotary encourages everyone to come out and participate in this fun family event.
