February 16, 2021 - The City of Center is experiencing an increased number of service calls regarding water leaks due to the recent winter weather. Currently, we have a portion of Nacogdoches St., between Lillian Street and Hurst Street, water service shut off due to a line break. Approximately 20 customers are affected.
February 12, 2021 - The City of Center weather forecast for the upcoming week calls for low temperatures that range between the 10s and lower 20s. We advise that you keep all exposed pipes covered to help protect from freezing temperatures. We also advise you bring all pets and plants inside if possible during these harsh conditions. If you must drive please use extra caution and allow plenty of time to arrive at your destination. And check on any elderly or disabled family/neighbors who may need help.
February 3, 2021 - The City of Center, Texas, led by the Center Economic Development Corporation, and in partnership with Lit Communities, LLC, is proud to announce a city-wide survey designed to assess residential and business demand for a fiber optic network that could be built throughout the city.
January 5, 2021 - The City of Center Public Water System, PWS #2100001, will be conducting water system maintenance beginning January 1, 2021, and lasting until January 31, 2021. The system will be switching to free chlorine as its main disinfection.
This maintenance which is not a requirement, but is the recommended course of action set by the TCEQ/EPA for the accumulation of disinfection byproducts.
June 29, 2020 - The City of Center is pleased to announce the John D. Windham Civic Center is open and available for business. The facility has been undergoing extensive cleaning and sanitization to prepare for events.
Certain guidelines will allow the public to resume having parties and meetings in a safe manner. Due to the flexibility of the space, layouts will assist in maintaining spacing, and still provide a location for larger gatherings.
Previously booked events remain on the calendar, but openings are available throughout the summer and fall months.
March 26, 2020 - Center Utility Department finds it vital to inform our customers that flushing anything other than toilet paper will impact the system and your plumbing. Toilet paper currently, is the single most difficult item to obtain.
March 19, 2020 - The City of Center wants to reassure our residents and businesses that essential City services are not anticipated to be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We are following our emergency response plans and taking necessary steps to ensure we can continue to serve our citizens. The City will be enhancing emergency response services by the Center Police and Fire Departments. Also, City water, sewer and garbage services should not be interrupted.
October 24, 2019 - Citizens asked to take park survey
The City of Center is currently in the process of updating the City's Parks Master Plan which defines goals and projects for the continued maintenance and development of the City's parks and recreational facilities over the next ten years.
