Crime Stoppers Seeks Information on Recent Theft

April 6, 2017 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information in regards to a recent theft which occurred on April 4, 2017 sometime between the hours of 1130am and 12pm at a residence located on Highway 147 in the McClelland Community.

Suspect(s) entered onto the victim's property and stole the following property: a 2005 Kawasaki Brute Force 750cc ATV, a Bad Boy 60" cut deck zero-turn lawn mower, and a 2010 BigTex 12 foot Utility Trailer with a fold down rear gate.

Sheriff Blackwell Issues Appeal to Citizens in Fight Against Crime

April 4, 2017 - Responding to the increased number of citizens wanting to assist law enforcement officials and build a stronger partnership in the fight against crime, Shelby County Sheriff Willis Blackwell announced that Shelby County citizens are invited to become Associate Members of the Sheriff’s Association of Texas.

Missing Shreveport Teenager Turns Self In to SCSO

March 25, 2017 - A female juvenile who has been missing from Shreveport, LA since Dec. 19, 2016 turned herself in to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office March 25 at 10:47 a.m.

According to Shelby County Sheriff Willis Blackwell, Natalyia Theresa Rogers, 17, entered the SCSO this morning and spoke with Deputy Peter Davis. Rogers told Davis that she had been staying in Center with Samantha Nix.

Rogers said that she turned herself in because she was in need of medications and was starting to harm herself.

Officers Recover Body from Sabine River

February 13, 2017 - Shelby County Sheriff Willis Blackwell reports the body of 46 year-old Michelle Curry Ford, of Logansport, LA. was recovered Feb. 12, 2017 from the Sabine River in Joaquin.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 11 a.m. that a property owner along the riverfront observed a body appearing to be a female floating face down in the river. Once officers arrived in the scene the body was recovered and officers with the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office identified the victim.

February 7, 2017 - The Texas Commission on Jail Standards recently acknowledged the excellent work of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office with a Certificate of Compliance for the Shelby County Jail. The most recent inspection of the facility demonstrated that the jail is in compliance with Texas Minimum Jail Standards.

Sheriff's Department Arrests Buna Woman After Allegedly Shooting Elderly Person

January 20, 2017 - Deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Buna woman recently on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and injury to the elderly after she shot another woman in the back of the head.
