November 29, 2018 (entry form) - If you received a Purple Heart for being wounded in Vietnam, you could be one of nine lucky veterans to win VFW’s “Return to Vietnam” trip. This in-country tour from April 25 - May 8, 2019, will include Hanoi, Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), the DMZ, Khe Sanh, Hue, Da Nang, Hoi An, Marble Mountain, Cu Chi and Tay Ninh.
November 7, 2018 - In honor of the 100th Anniversary that ended World War I the public is cordially invited to join Shelby County Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8904 and Auxiliary at their Veteran’s Day Program in remembrance of those from Shelby County who so honorably served during that time. The program will be held Sunday, November 11, 2018, 1 p.m. inside the 1885 Shelby County Historic Courthouse, Center, Texas. You are encouraged to bring children and grandchildren to this historic and once in a lifetime event.

September 14, 2018 - Shelby County Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8904 will hold its monthly meeting Monday, September 17, 2018, 6:30 p.m. at the post home, 617 Highway 96 North.
The Auxiliary will also meet at the post home Monday at 11:45 a.m.

August 15, 2018 - Now that school is back in session it is time to start thinking about honoring a group of VFW heroes, the teachers. Prime candidates for VFW Teacher of the Year are those who promote civic responsibility, flag etiquette, patriotism and help students develop a better understanding of democratic values.
July 26, 2018 - On June 25, 1950, the North Korean Army began an offensive to invade South Korea that resulted in the capture of the republic’s capital, Seoul, within four days. The United States, the United Kingdom and other members of the United Nations moved to actively defend South Korea – an effort that would last until July 27, 1953, when negotiations concluded and fighting finally ended.
June 22, 2018 - VFW Post 8904 is looking for relatives or descendants of US Army World War I Veteran Ellis Luther Reaves. Mr. Reaves passed on February 21, 1985 and is buried in the Campti Methodist Cemetery.
June 4, 2018 - Shelby County Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8904 and the Auxiliary would like to thank all those who attended our Memorial Day Program at the 1885 Historic Courthouse on Monday, May 28, 2018. Because of you 205 Americans from Shelby County, Texas who were lost during a time of war from the Civil War to today’s War on Terror were not forgotten.
