October 8, 2018 - The winner of the 2018 Danny Foster Memorial Fundraiser of the Center Noon Lions Club for a 2018 GMC Canyon extended cab pickup is Taylor Clark. Clark was handed her keys for the GMC pickup by Center Noon Lions Club Vehicle Raffle Chairman Tim Wulf. She is a sophomore attending Panola College.

The four winners of $250 were J. Mike Bird, Ron Bellenger, TNT McDrill, and Suzanne Ihlo.

The Lions Club would like to give special thanks to Raymond Motor Company who provided the 2018 GMC pickup for the raffle.

Money raised from the fundraiser supports charities, schools, children's eye classes, children with health problems as well as assisting with building of baseball and softball fields.

October 8, 2018 - Center Garden Club is pleased to present its Yard of the Month Award (October) to Marilyn Ballard in recognition of her commitment to maintaining a beautiful landscape at her historical 212 Houston Street home. Marilyn credits her late husband Larry for their original landscape design which he meticulously maintained for many years prior to his death. Marilyn expresses gratitude to both Mr. Gonzalez and Mr. Hornbuckle whose assistance has made it possible for her to continue to have a beautiful landscape. Center Garden Club urges everyone to drive by the Ballard home and experience the delight that a picturesque setting can bring to its owner and passerby alike!

October 6, 2018 (More Photos) - The Chicken Clucking Contest was held Saturday, October 6th during the 42nd East Texas Poultry Festival and kids of all ages took to the stage to 'Cluck, Strut, and Crow' their way into the hearts of the judges.

October 5, 2018 - Friends of the Library are asking for donations of used paperback and hardback books in good condition. No encyclopedias, please. Books may be brought to the Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library in Center, during regular library hours. The books will be sold in the fall book sale to be held Tuesday, October 30 –Saturday, November 3, 2018. All proceeds will go to the library for the purchase of new books. Any volunteers who can help with sorting of books may call Melba at 936-591-7036 or Amy at 936-657-8529.

October 2, 2018 (Photos - Album1, Album2) - Abigail Hooper was crowned the 2018 East Texas Poultry Festival Queen at the 42nd Annual ETPF Queen’s Scholarship Pageant held Saturday, September 29th. First runner up was announced to be Caroline Scull and second runner up was Kalei LaRock.

October 2, 2018 - In September, Delta Gamma members were take back to an earlier time with the program presented on their archives presented by Fannie Watson, Billie Bailey, and Elaine Snider.

They viewed a video from years past that re-enacted the charter meeting of the group.

Scrapbooks, newsletters, and yearbooks were viewed from the chapters start. Delta Gamma is the local chapter of key women educators from Shelby, Sabine, and San Augustine counties.
