July 12, 2015 - Years ago it was the drought; this year it was the rain. The largest watermelon entry for 2015 was Doug Cogswell's melon which weighed 96 pounds.
July 12, 2015 - Competition was tough at the What-A-Melon Festival Seed Spitting and Speed Eating events held under the big tent during Saturday's festival activities. Special judges in the Speed Eating competition were Tanya Echols from Cleburne, Texas and Kaye Weiland from Burleson, Texas who had scheduled their vacation to include three days of What-A-Melon Festival activites.
July 6, 2015 - Let's play ball! Center is hosting eight baseball tournaments starting Saturday, July 4th. Teams from all over will converge on Center for Regional and State baseball games.

June 18, 2015 - National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Southern Rusk County in Northeastern Texas, Nacogdoches County in Eastern Texas, Western Shelby County in Eastern Texas, and Angelina County in Eastern Texas until 8am Thursday, June 18, 2015.
July 3, 2015 - As of 10:21am Friday, July 3, 2015 a statement in relation to the charges provided by Christi Woodworth, Vice President of Public Relations for SONIC, America's Drive-In is as follows: For the last several weeks, legitimate credit card transactions at a very limited number of credit card readers at 11 SONIC Drive-Ins were not processed promptly. There was no data breach at SONIC.
June 24, 2015 - Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers were dispatched to a single-vehicle rollover which took down a utility pole just outside of Center on State Highway 7 West near CR 1140 on Tuesday, June 23, 2015.

June 18, 2015 - Some time in 1901 there was a rain storm in the southern part of Shelby County which allegedly created Big Ditch. See video footage with the voice of Dr. John Rogers reminiscing and describing video of Big Ditch taken by his father, Dr. Y.W. "Hap" Rogers about 1940.
