Shelby County Historical Society to Host Speaker O'Neal (Cancelled)

Update: The Shelby County Historical Society meeting has been cancelled.

March 12, 2020 - The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting March 17, 2020 at 2pm in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street.

Our guest speaker this month will be Mr. Bill O'Neal. Mr. O'Neal is the former Texas State Historian and is a well-known author.

SC Historical Society Meeting, Guest Speaker Larry Hume

October 17, 2017 - The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. Our guest speaker this month will be Mr. Larry Hume. He will be speaking to us about World War I. It is the 100th anniversary and he will tell us what is being done in Shelby County in remembrance of this time of our history. Everyone is invited to attend.

Doggett Speaks at Shelby County Historical Society Meeting

November 17, 2016 - Our speaker for our November 15, 2016 meeting was Colleen Doggett. We thank Colleen for being available since our designated speaker, Chad Pate, was unavailable.

Teddy Hopkins opened the meeting with the pledges of allegiance and a prayer.

November 4, 2016 - The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting November 15, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. Our guest speaker this month will be Mr. Chad Pate of Timpson, Texas. Chad is the owner/publisher of East Texas Press and will talk about how he came to buy the newspaper. Everyone is invited to attend.

Judge Boles to Speak at SC Historical Society Meeting

October 4, 2016 - The Shelby County Historical Society and Museum will have our October Meeting on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the Museum at 2:00 p.m. Judge Bennie Boles will be the speaker. He will either talk about his Football Career at Center High School and Sam Houston State University or possibly an old interesting jury trial in which he was over.

Everyone is invited to attend and also see our new display of Sports Memorabilia, and other things.

SC Historical Society, Museum Seeking Sports Memorabilia Display Items

August 18, 2016 - The Shelby County Historical Society and Museum is planning a great display of sports, baseball, football, tennis, any and all memorabilia. If you have trophies, letter jackets, pictures, or awards, we need these for our display. If you would like to see your treasures on display, contact the SC Historical Society and Museum at 936-598-3613 or come by the museum at 230 Pecan Street in Center, this includes all of Shelby County.

Shelby County Historical Society Meeting to Feature Two Guest Speakers

February 4, 2016 - The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting February 16, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. We will have two guest speakers this month. Ms Billie Sue Payne will speak to us about the history of The First United Methodist Church and Ms Suzanne Ihlo will speak about the Methodist Church Cemetery. Everyone is invited to attend.
