September 22, 2020 - Tri-County Community will hold a Produce Drop tomorrow September 23, 2020, starting at 9am.
The process and procedures will remain the same as far as disbursement of food and sign-in. Anyone is able to receive produce and food items. The produce drop is located in the parking lot of the Wolf Plaza on the furthest end opposite of Ivan Smith Furniture (Where Sombrero’s used to be). The truck arrives around 9:00-9:30 a.m.
September 14, 2020 - The Shelby County Emergency Management office reported Tuesday, September 8, 2020 its last COVID-19 report which included a cumulative case count of 442 for Shelby County.
According to Kerri Shofner, Emergency Management Coordinator, "After a lengthy discussion with DSHS this morning, we have decided that at this point the COVID numbers for Shelby County should be reported using the DSHS dashboard as opposed to the numbers reported to us that we’ve been providing."
September 1, 2020 - Hurricane Laura blew through Shelby County the morning of August 27th and brought down a Water Oak tree (Quercus Nigra) which is believed to be over 100 years old.
August 31, 2020 - Local businesses are joining forces to provide meals for all the linemen working in the Shelby County area to restore power since Hurricane Laura came through causing many to lose power. Your hard work does not go unnoticed! We know there are long hours being worked, never-ending days and lots of hard work involved.
Due to no utilities, the bank extends its closure to Monday, August 31, 2020.
August 26, 2020 - Sabine State Bank would like to advise the community the bank will be closing all offices at noon on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 and will be closed Thursday, August 27th due to Hurricane Laura.
August 25, 2020 - Shelby County is among the list of 36 newly added counties to the State's Disaster Declaration concerning Hurricane Laura on Tuesday, August 25 due to the threat of severe rain, wind, and flooding.
Shelby County Attorney Gary Rholes would like to remind everyone that price gouging in a disaster area is a crime. If anyone suspects price gauging, please contact the Shelby County Attorney's office at 936-598-6100 and it will be investigated.
