SC Appraisal District Reminds Businesses to Render Taxable Property by April 15th

April 3, 2018 - If you own tangible personal property that is used to produce income, you must file a rendition with the Shelby County Appraisal District by April 15.

A rendition is a report that lists all the taxable property you owned or controlled on January 1 of this year. Property includes inventory and equipment used by a business. Owners do not have to render exempt property, such as church property or an agriculture producer’s equipment used for farming.

Comptroller’s Office Encourages Homeowners to Take Advantage of Homestead Exemptions

February 6, 2018 - One of the easiest ways a homeowner can lower his or her property tax bill is to file a homestead exemption. A homestead is generally the house and land used as the owner’s principal residence on Jan. 1 of the tax year.

Homestead exemptions reduce the appraised value of your home and, as a result, lower your property taxes. To apply for an exemption on your residence homestead, contact the Shelby County Appraisal District.

Updated Property Tax Information Now Available for Texas Taxpayers

January 2, 2018 - New and updated property tax information has just been compiled by Shelby County Appraisal District and is available now to assist taxpayers.  This property tax information is current and covers a wide range of topics, such as taxpayer remedies, exemptions, appraisals and is of value to select groups, such as disabled veterans and persons who are 65 years of age or older.

Shelby County Appraisal District Depository Bids Public Notice

October 11, 2017 - The Shelby County Appraisal District hereby gives notice that it will enter into a contract for a district depository as required by law. Any banking corporation, association or individual banker in Shelby County, Texas is invited to submit an application for such depository by December 31, 2017. Bids may be submitted to Robert N.
