2024 Tenaha Holiday Hoops Basketball Tournament Heads to Evening Action of Day 2

Tenaha Holiday Hoops Tourney on December 27, 2024 –

 

Tenaha ISD’s 2024 Holiday Hoops Basketball Tournament is in the midst of Day 2 tournament bracket play. The field is narrowing down to tomorrow’s final day and trophy round elimination games.

Day 2 action saw the Timpson Lady Bears competing with the Hooks Lady Hornets at Panola College. Hooks held a 15-11 advantage at the end of the first period, and they led 24-18 at the midway break. The second half saw Hooks ahead 43-28 at the end of the third stanza and they eventually took a 57-32 point win. The Lady Bears was led by Natalie Johnson with 11 points. Hooks was led by D.D. Johnson with 16 points.

In Day 2 boy’s action the Tenaha Tigers faced off with the Kountze Lions at Timpson ISD. The Lions jumped out to a 15-2 lead midway through the first period and led 29-4 at the end of the first quarter. By halftime Kountze had built a 46-15 lead on their way to a lopsided 84-35 win. The Lions were led by Zac Sells with 32 points and Mason Donald had 26. Tenaha was led by Seth Stokes with 8 points.

The Shelbyville Dragons faced off with the Sabine Cardinals next in boy’s action at Timpson Bears Gymnasium. The Cardinals led 22-16 at the end of the first quarter. Shelbyville outscored Sabine 24-13 in the second period and the Dragons took a narrow 40-35 lead into the midway intermission. By the end of the third stanza the Dragons had built their lead to 58-44. Shelbyville once again outpaced Sabine 16-11 points in the final quarter to take a 74-55 win.

The Dragons were led by Jon Jon Mathis with 39 points, Geechie Mathis had 13 and DJ Barnes had 11.

Sabine was led by Hudson McNatt with 16 and Dalton Taylor had 14 points.
