The City of Tenaha is hiring a Chief of Police. Summary of Duties: Enforces law and order in the city (State and Local), responds to dispatch calls, assists other agencies, patrols streets, investigates motor vehicle crashes within the city limits and all criminal cases within the city limits, assists citizens, appears in court (City, County, and District), collects, and secures evidence, makes arrests, and performs special, traffic monitoring within the city limits. Prepares and submits required reports, attends all City Council Meetings, prepares, and writes city ordinances when warranted by Council, and Supervises any officers employed or reserved by the City of Tenaha. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements: Must be 21 years of age, Must be a U.S. Citizen, Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License (without restrictions other than eyeglasses), Must possess a Peace Officer License certified by TCOLE, Have never been discharged from the U.S. Military under less than honorable discharge (if applicable), Must not have any dishonorable Discharges from other agencies, Ability to fluently read, write, and speak the English language, Not prohibited by State or Federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition, Not prohibited by State of Federal law from operating a motor vehicle, Pass a comprehensive background investigation, Pass oral interview, Pass a physical exam, psychological screening and drug test, Be of good moral character and any other standards set by law or policy of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, No Criminal History, Good Driving Record, knowledge of operations such as budgets and grants. Education / Training: High school diploma or equivalent Required, Active Texas Peace Officer License – Required, CPR / First Aid – Required and College Degree – Preferred.
