July 18, 2026 - The community is invited to join the Shelby County 4-H program as it celebrates America 250 and the grand opening of its newly renovated sewing rooms during a special “Sew & See” Open House on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 2pm to 4pm.
This special event will highlight the role that 4-H youth development programs play in teaching life skills, creativity, and leadership while honoring the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. Guests will have the opportunity to tour the new sewing rooms, learn about 4-H textile and fashion projects, view demonstrations, and discover how the expanded space will serve youth and families throughout the county.
“We are excited to open our new sewing rooms and celebrate this important milestone in our nation’s history,” said Feleshia Thompson, County Extension Agent for 4-H and Youth Development. “The ‘Sew & See’ event is an opportunity for community members to visit our facility, learn about 4-H programs, and see firsthand how these spaces will help young people develop valuable life skills for years to come.”
The event is free and open to the public. Community leaders, families, current and prospective 4- H members, volunteers, and supporters are encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
As America commemorates its 250th anniversary, Shelby County 4-H is proud to celebrate the spirit of innovation, service, and community that has helped shape our nation.
Attendees are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue as we mark this historic occasion together.
