4-H News: Kick Off a Year of Fun, Friends, and Learning on Sept. 8

September 3, 2025 - Join Shelby County 4-H on Monday, September 8 at 6pm at the Extension Office, 266 Nacogdoches Street, Center, Texas 75935). Membership is not required to attend. All are welcome!

What is 4-H? Many people think that 4-H is just about raising livestock, nothing could be further from the truth. We have numerous 4-H’ers involved in projects like clothing and textiles, livestock photography, public speaking, shooting sports, etc. No matter what the project, the goal of 4-H is to develop life skills and leadership within young people so they become productive, contributing members of society.

Programs Offered: Raising Chickens, Raising Livestock (cattle, sheep, goats, pigs), Raising Rabbits, Livestock Showing, Livestock, Judging, Shooting Sports, Entomology, Photography, Public Speaking, Clothing & Textiles- Basic Sewing Skills, Clothing & Textiles-Duds to Dazzle, Food & Nutrition-Cooking in the Kitchen, Food Chal- lenge, Leadership, Performance Arts-Theater, Robotics

Requirements:
Be in the 3rd-12th grade.
Adult Volunteers are screened through the Texas 4-H Youth Protection Standards program.
