July 25, 2024 - I read something from Charles Spurgeon the other day where he wrote, "Faith goes up the stairs that love has built and looks out the windows which hope has opened". One thing is sure, that speaks to life in our present world. To be sure, life can be very bewildering at times. Often it is hard to see any sense in it and there are many things which defy understanding and many which seem to have no explanation. It reminds me of a line from one of Robert Browning's poems. The poem is "God Thou Art Love" and one of the lines reads, "God, Thou art love; I build my faith on that".
There are a lot of things I do not know and certainly my family would give that statement a hearty "amen". However, there is one thing I am sure of and that is that I can say with John (I John 4:8) "God is love" There will be times when we do not know what the future holds, but knowing who holds the future, we must accept the will of God. When Jesus was in Gethsemane, he did not want to die. No one wants to die at the tender age of 33. However, Jesus knew that He must accept the will of God. There are times it will be that way with us. We may not like what the future holds, but knowing that God is love, we must accept the will of God. Knowing that, we must also remember another passage from Romans 8:28, "All things work together to them that love God"
It's something to think about... TBP
