Agents for Change/Timpson Food for Thought Canned Food Drive

November 13, 2015 - Timpson Elementary Agents for Change in cooperation with Timpson Food for Thought is sponsoring a nonperishable Food Drive for the people in our community who are less fortunate than others.

Did you know, it was estimated that 16 million children lived in food-insecure households in the United States in 2012. That means many of our children go hungry in a country that produces more food than we can eat. According to USDA reports 1 in 6 families in Texas struggle with having enough food in their homes., and yes, we have families right here in Timpson that struggle to put food on their tables. If you or your family knows someone that needs help with food please let them know about our pantry.

Timpson Food For Thought is a food pantry that is part of the East Texas Food Bank. They distribute food to families and the elderly on the 3rd Friday of each month. The food pantry is open from 10 am until 12 noon at the First Baptist Church on North 2nd Street.

During the Holidays the food pantry traditionally has more families needing assistance. That is where you can help. We are asking each student and teacher if they would bring one or two canned foods or boxed food products to add to the food pantry. Please make sure your donation is “in date”, has a label on the can or package, and is unopened.

Last year, your donations made it possible to serve over 200 local families and for that, the mayor, Debra Smith, Timpson Food for Thought, and TES Agents for Change want to say Thank you!!

Please send your donations to your child’s homeroom class on or before Tuesday, November 17th.

If you have any questions, please contact Agents for Change sponsor, Tammy Sparks, @ 936-254-2463 ext. 2307. We really appreciate your generosity and your donations will go a long way towards providing a joyful holiday season for those who are in need. Thank you for your consideration!
