An American Main Street Patriotic Ceremony

September 3, 2015 - An American Main Street Patriotic Ceremony will be held September 11, 2015 at 5 PM in downtown San Augustine.

Pictured: The Pentagon, September 11, 2001. American Flight 77, en route from Dulles Airport in Washington, D.C., to Los Angeles with 64 people aboard, crashes into the Pentagon in Arlington, Va., a suburb of Washington. The nerve center of the U.S. military erupts in flames and a portion of the structure collapses.

Foreground inset: The call to arms: In Norfolk, Va., a sailor about to ship out on the USS Theodore Roosevelt bade farewell to his wife on September 19, as his colleagues hoisted the colors. "We're learning once again that freedom and liberty and the American way of life are not a birthright," Navy Secretary Gordon England told the seamen.

Bring your family and your lawn chair, but most of all bring your patriotic spirit! Opening of the event will be recognition in support of all First Responders (so important now) followed by free food, music and children's games, culminating with a poignant candlelight closing/salute to America and moment of silence/remembrance of the 9-11 victims, officiated by Wayne Barth, pastor of First Baptist Church in Broaddus, and a true patriot!
