August 20, 2015 - As the Labor Day Holiday approaches, the nine-county Lufkin District of TxDOT is partnering with area law enforcement agencies to host the “Drink, Drive, Go to Jail” campaign, with the dynamic message of “Choose Your Ride.”
This year’s event will be held at the Polk County Rest Area at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2015 and will be supported by Polk and Angelina County law enforcement and other city and county officials.
“Choose Your Ride” will serve to remind drivers that if you choose to drink and drive, the vehicle you reach your destination in might not be the one you expected it to be, but will ultimately be one only you can choose. Vehicles on display will range from a police car to a hearse and will present a dynamic visual message to the public along with comments from speakers who have seen first-hand the results of choosing to drink and drive.
Through Labor Day, law enforcement agencies will increase their efforts to arrest drunk drivers beginning August 21 through the September 7 no refusal Labor Day Holiday.
