The Timpson Bears varsity football team has improved their season record to 14-0 with a 55-14 win over the Beckville Bearcats (10-4) at Henderson’s Lions Stadium. The win was in a Texas Region III Championship/ State Quarterfinal elimination game. The Bears will next face the Shiner Comanches (12-0) at 7 p.m. on Thursday December 10, 2020 in the Texas State 2A-1 Semifinal round at New Caney’s Randall Reed Stadium (21360 Valley Ranch Parkway).

The Bears trailed by a small margin early but gained the lead with a minute left in the first quarter when LT Washington found Bears’ receiver Trey Davis for a score which gave Timpson a 9-6 lead.

The Bears never trailed again and a Braden Courtney touchdown run gave Timpson a 14-6 lead early in the second stanza. The Bears extended their lead to 55-6 before Beckville scored again. With 4 minutes remaining in the game the Bearcats were able to get their last score in the late stages of the contest.

This win is history for Timpson as they have never reached the semifinal in football. They have also not been undefeated through the regular season since 1975. Coach Kerry Therwhanger and the Bears have alot to be proud of and are surely excited about an opportunity to extend this history making season.
