Tenaha Special Events Center on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 –
The Timpson Bears varsity basketball team has clinched the District 23 2A title with a road win over the Tenaha Tigers by a 68-52 score. Timpson is now at 10-1 in the conference with a single game remaining. Tenaha has two games left and they are fighting, with a 5-5 mark, to hold on to fourth place in order to gain a playoff berth.
Timpson jumped out to a 17-12 lead by the end of the first period and they led 32-24 at the halftime buzzer. By the end of the third stanza the Bears had built a 51-33 advantage on their way to the 68-52 win.
The Bears were led by Terry Bussey with 30 points. LT Washington added 14 points to the Bears scoresheet. The Tigers were led by JT Steadman with 16 points and Ja’Torion Moore with ten.
On Friday, February 10, 2023 Tenaha will host the Beckville Bearcats for a 7 p.m. tipoff at Tenaha Special Events Center.
Timpson travels to Garrison Bulldogs Gymnasium on Friday, February 10 for a 7 p.m. game.
