Bridge Work Beginning in Several Counties

June 30, 2021 - A pre-construction meeting was held Monday in the Nacogdoches Area Office, signaling the beginning of a new construction project that will include bridge work in several counties.

A bridge maintenance project is scheduled to begin July 6 in San Jacinto County and upon completion, work will move to several other bridge locations in Nacogdoches, Sabine, San Augustine and Shelby counties. Work will include various bridge maintenance and repairs at these locations:

  • Shelby County: US 84 at the Attoyac River Relief, FM 139 at Pauls Creek and at Grannie Creek, FM 138 at Shafner Creek, at Bush Creek, at West Creek, and at the Attoyac River Relief. US 96 Northbound at Huana Creek, FM 947 at Ship Creek, FM 261 at Indian Creek and at Goodwin Creek.
  • San Jacinto County: FM 980 at Rocky Creek.
  • Nacogdoches County: US 59 at Texas & New Orleans Railroad, FM 226 at Moss Creek, and FM 1648 at Beech Creek.
  • Sabine County: SH 87 at Big Sandy Creek Relief and FM 2784 at Palo Gaucho Bayou.
  • San Augustine County: SH 21 at Niciper Creek, FM 1277 at Brushy Creek, FM 1751 at Dickey Creek, and FM 83 at Harvey Creek.

DBI Services, LLC, Hazleton PA, will serve as contractor for the $615,934 project. Work is scheduled to be completed by December 2021, weather permitting.

As this work begins, motorists are urged to stay alert to signage, barricades, moving equipment and workers near the work zones. Choose alternate routes and prepare for possible delays or lane closures. Obey all traffic control and reduce speed.
