June 25, 2018 - Shelby County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 5 candidate-elect, Tracy Broadway of Timpson, recently attended the Texas Justice Court Judges Association 2018 Education and Technology Conference in San Antonio. He was invited after winning the March Republican Primary Election.
The 13-hour seminar at the Marriott Plaza, June 12-15, drew over 100 current and elected justices of the peace, along with court clerks from across the state of Texas, with attendees receiving educational training hours.
Among the topics covered during the classes included, Update on Landlord/Tenant Issues, Traffic Safety and the Justice Courts’ Role, Gangs and the Internet, and What Would the Ethical Judge Do? In addition to Proactive Strategy to Courtroom Security, and the Justice Court and Class C Misdemeanors-How to use technology and the Internet to do due diligence. Presenters included the Texas Attorney General’s Office, Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid, sitting justices, and topic specialist.
The Texas Justice Court Judges Association was charted in 2002.
Broadway will be on the ballot in the November General Election.
