Center Falls in Softball Homestand with Henderson

The Center Lady Roughriders fell to 0-2 in District 17 4A varsity softball play when they lost by an 11-1 score to the visiting Henderson Lady Lions on Friday. Henderson scored two runs in the top of the first inning to open up scoring during a rally which yielded three hits and a walk.

The Lions did the rest of their damage offensively in the top of the second when they added nine runs in the inning which saw 14 batters come to the plate.

The Lady Roughriders scored the final run of the game in the bottom of the second inning when Sayre Hall reached base on a walk and was later driven in when Keila Delacruz put a ball in play and a Lions infielder committed an error.

During the top of the fourth inning Gabby Whisenant retired all three Lady Lions batters by running down pop flies in Centerfield.

The Lady Roughriders reached base five times on walks. Center pitchers Julie Bird and Destiny Arcibar combined for one strikeout and they gave up 8 hits and 6 walks. Center committed 3 errors. Henderson pitching struck out 6, walked five and the Lady Lions committed an error.

Center has eight games remaining in their 2023 regular season and they will next travel to Spring Hill on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 for a 6 p.m. game at Panthers Ballpark.
