May 25, 2026 - Sam Houston State University (SHSU) held its seventh annual Heatwave Media and Film Festival Competition and Award Ceremony. The University makes an invitation to many high schools across the state for this competition. The festival, which aims to showcase work done by College of Arts and Media students, awarded numerous accolades for student film, journalism, graphic design and other forms of media.

CTE Graphic Design students participated in this competition and won several awards. Ethan Jackson placed 1st and received Best High School in PR/Advertising. Jaxon Olalde placed 2nd and Kaia Langhorn placed 3rd under the same category.
Kaia Langhorn won overall Best High School Graphic Design.
Congratulations on a job well done by the 2025- 2026 CHS graphic design department (aka Studio 806).
