Center ISD Announces Hiring of Coach Jack Alvarez as Athletic Director/Head Football Coach

January 8, 2026 - Center ISD is proud to announce the hiring of Coach Jack Alvarez as the district's new Athletic Director/Head Football Coach. Coach Alvarez brings decades of experience in Texas high school athletics and a proven track record of leadership, program development, and competitive success.

Coach Alvarez has served as both an Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Marshall, Cuero, Copperas Cove, and Kirbyville, where he consistently built winning programs and fostered strong athletic cultures. His accomplishments include leading teams to a 5A State Championship, three state championship appearances, and a 5A state semifinal appearance.

In addition to his on-field success, Coach Alvarez is widely respected across the state for his leadership and service. He was named the 2024 THSCA Coaching Beyond the Game Award winner, recognizing his impact on student-athletes beyond athletics. He has also served on the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Board of Directors for four years, further demonstrating his commitment to the profession and to advancing high school athletics statewide.

"Coach Alvarez has a long history of building successful programs and understands every aspect of managing a comprehensive athletic department," said Jake Henson, Superintendent of Center ISD. "His experience, professionalism, and extensive network of relationships across the state will be tremendous assets to our district."

Known for his vast knowledge of athletic operations, strong leadership skills, and dedication to student-athlete development, Coach Alvarez brings a holistic approach to athletics that emphasizes excellence, character, and community pride.

Coach Alvarez is joined by his wife, Kim Alvarez, who is also a former educator. Together, they share a deep commitment to public education and student success and look forward to becoming active members of the Center ISD community.

Center ISD is also pleased to announce the hiring of Brandon Alvarez as Assistant Athletic Director. Brandon brings 16 years of coaching experience with previous stops at Buna, Kirbyville, Newton, Ennis, and Copperas Cove. During his time at Ennis and Copperas Cove, he worked alongside his father, Coach Jack Alvarez, gaining valuable experience within successful athletic programs.

Most recently, Brandon spent the past six seasons as the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Garrison ISD, where he continued a tradition of consistent winning and program excellence. Under his leadership, Garrison posted a 12-2 record during the 2023 season and compiled an overall record of 47-24 during his tenure.
