September 1, 2015 - A special meeting of the Board of Trustees of Center Independent School District (CISD) was held on Monday, August 31, 2015 beginning at 12:00 p. m. at Center ISD Administration Board Room located at 107 Private Road 605 Center, Texas 75935.
1. Call Meeting to Order and Establish a Quorum
James Greer called the meeting to order at 12:00 p.m. and declared a quorum.
Present: James Greer; John Henry Holloway; Daphne LaRock; Sharon Nelson; Stephen Shires (arrived at 12:04 p.m.); Traci Willoughby; Dan Wilkins; Betty McDaniel, Director of Finance and James Hockenberry, Superintendent
Absent: None
Visitors: Mike Brister
2. Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance
Mike Brister gave the invocation and Joyce Permenter led the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. Consider Approval of Amendments to the 2014-2015 Budget
A motion was made by Sharon Nelson, seconded by Daphne LaRock to amend the 2014-2015 budgets. The amendments were TRS on behalf of, August accruals, operating budget transfers, construction, cafeteria and student activity.
The motion carried 7-0.
4. Public Hearing on the Adoption of the 2015-2016 Proposed Budget and Proposed Tax Rate
A public hearing was held on the adoption of the 2015-2016 proposed budget and proposed tax rate.
5. Consider Adoption of the 2015-2016 Tax Rate
A motion was made by Sharon Nelson, seconded by Dan Wilkins to adopt the 2015-2016 tax rate. The motion read as follows:
“I move that the Board adopt for the 2015-2016 school year the following tax rates:
The Maintenance and Operation (M&O) tax rate of $1.17 and the Interest and Sinking (I&S) tax rate of $0.1638 for a total tax rate of $1.3338.
This tax rate will generate .07% less taxes for Maintenance and Operations than last year’s tax rate.
The motion carried 7-0.
6. Consider Adoption of the 2015-2016 Budget
A motion was made by John Henry Holloway, seconded by Stephen Shires to adopt the 2015-2016 budget. The motion read as follows:
“I move that the Board adopt for the 2015-2016 school year the following budgets:
The Maintenance and Operation (M&O) budget of $22,117,132, the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program budget of $1,713,720, the Interest and Sinking (I&S) budget of $1,293,713, the QSCN budget $467,000 and the Construction Fund budget of $2,500,000.
The motion carried 7-0.
7. Adjournment
A motion was made by Dan Wilkins, seconded by Traci Willoughby to adjourn the meeting at 12:19 p.m.
