May 8, 2018 - Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers investigated this afternoon a three-vehicle crash on SH 94 about one mile west of Apple Springs. The preliminary crash investigation indicates at about 2:45 p.m., a 1997 Ford passenger car was traveling east on SH 94.
The Ford reportedly crossed over the center of the roadway and struck a 2018 Toyota passenger car that was traveling west. Moments after the initial crash the Ford was then struck by an eastbound 2002 Volvo truck-tractor semi-trailer. The truck-tractor then overturned in the roadway.
The driver of the Ford is identified as Logan Alec, 30, from Livingston, TX. Alec was pronounced deceased at the scene by a Trinity County Justice of the Peace. The driver of the Toyota is identified as Kathryn Rogers, 58, from Apple Springs, TX.
Rogers was transported to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Lufkin for treatment. The driver of the truck-tractor is identified as Alan Eddins, 29, from Center, TX. Eddins was also transported to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Lufkin for treatment.
This crash remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
