September 25, 2017 - CMS Junior Chamber of Commerce and Junior BETA Club joined forces to adopt a school affected by Hurricane Harvey. Goodson Middle School, with a population of over 1200, is located in Cypress, Texas. CMS collected donations for the students to help in making the beginning of the school year a bit easier for students affected by recent flooding in the Houston area.
The 'Adopt A School' program was organized through an online Facebook group, Principal Principles, a collaboration of administrators from all over the U. S. including many schools in the Houston and surrounding areas most affected by the hurricane.
Supplies were delivered to the school Friday, September 15. Goodson School Principal, Sheri McCaig, said, "A huge thank you to Center Middle School in Center Texas for the school supply donation! We are so appreciative! CMS has an amazing community!"
Organizing the effort were BETA Sponsors Amy Sanford and Holly Burns, and JCC Sponsor Gladys Andrews.
