April 20, 2023 - Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) State Troopers investigated a non-injury crash on U.S. Highway 96 (Hurst Street) near Sanders Street, that occurred Sunday, April 16, 2023.
The preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 5:40pm, a 2018 Chevrolet police car driven by Officer Micah Buzbee was traveling south with its emergency lights and siren activated. It is reported a 1999 Ford SUV driven by Ruth Duke, 75, of Center, failed to yield to the police car, pulled from a private drive and struck it on its right side.
