Center Takes Home Win Over Sheppard, Evens District Mark

The Center Roughriders evened their District 10 Class 4A-2 varsity football record at 1-1 by defeating the visiting Sheppard Pirates by a 56-6 score on Friday. The Roughriders drew first blood when Keamodre Horace scored on a 14-yard touchdown run with 4:18 left in the first quarter. Luis Gonzales added on an extra point kick and the ‘Riders led 7-0. The Center lead was expanded to 14-0 when Horace scored on another run with just 2:09 left in the opening period.

 Sheppard scored on a quarterback sneak in the second stanza and CHS took a 14-6 into the halftime break.

Horace scored on a 65-yard scoring run helping CHS to take a 21-6 advantage with 9:21 left in the third quarter of play. Roughrider Marques Hall scored on a special teams play to give Center a 28-6 lead with 4:27 left in the third quarter.

Horace added another touchdown run to his tally with 47 seconds left in the third frame. CHS led 35-6 going into the fourth period.

Hall scored his second touchdown with 10:17 left in the game Center led 42-6.  Mar Mar Evans caught a pass for a touchdown from Jake Hanson to help expand the CHS lead to 49-6 with less than five minute remaining. Dekylin Hoyt intercepted a Pirates pass with just seconds left and returned it for a score for the games final score.

The 'Riders will travel to Madisonville on Friday, October 23, 2020 for a 7:30 p.m. Kickoff at Mustangs Stadium. The Mustangs are 4-3 and 2-0 in conference play.
