City of Joaquin Holds Special Called Meeting

Joaquin City Hall Building on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 –

The City of Joaquin held a special called meeting on Tuesday to address maintenance issues. Mayor Frank Cooper and council members, Barbara Pridgen, Steve Cockrell and Cathy Atkinson were present for the meeting as well as, City Billing Manager Casey Davis.

Items requiring a vote included Items 6 and 7. On Item 6 the board heard that Terry Allen of Farmers State Bank had notified the council on issues involving a city loan application for the future repairs of Joaquin City wells numbered 1and 2. The loan involves using two city buildings as collateral in securing a 15-year loan for $168, 000 to repair the wells. The motion passed 3-0 to approve.

Item 7 involved an invoice from Center Glass Company for damages of a windshield of citizen Ricky Smith’s vehicle which was broken by a limb which fell from a tree on city property. The council voted 3-0 to pay for the damages Mister Smith incurred in the amount of $794.02.

After discussing possible items for their next meeting’s agenda the council adjourned their meeting.
