City of Joaquin Mayor Baker Proclaim March as American Red Cross Month

March 7, 2016 - Across the country, around the world and in our own community, the Red Cross is there in times of need. For example, when an injured service person is in a hospital far from home, the Red Cross offers comfort. When a lifeguard jumps in a pool to save a drowning child or someone steps up to help a heart attack victim, the Red Cross is there. During terrible storms, floods and house fires, the Red Cross can be counted on to provide aid. Our community depends on the Red Cross, which relies on donations of time and funding to fulfill its humanitarian mission.

Each year, the American Red Cross dedicates the month of March to "Everyday Heroes" who support its mission of preventing and alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies. Today we would like to honor our heroes in the City of Joaquin who have worked tirelessly to assist their neighbors when they need a helping hand.

Now, therefore, I, Mayor Bill Baker, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the City of Joaquin, do hereby proclaim March 2016 as American Red Cross Month. I encourage all Americans to support this organization and its noble humanitarian mission.

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand this first day of March, in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen, and of the City of Joaquin.
