August 25, 2022 - Good Morning! It's Thursday, August 25.
I saw something yesterday that I haven't seen in a long time. I saw a rainbow. For a rainbow to occur, there must be both sunlight and rain. We've had plenty of sunlight this summer, but, up until a week ago, not very much rain. It was a beautiful sight!
Scientists will tell you that when the light from the sun moves through water, that light is refracted, or bent. And when light is bent, it shows off all of its colors. So, a rainbow features all the shades of the spectrum, with violet (the shortest wavelength) at the bottom, and red (the longest) at the top. Sometimes the light will go through a second set of droplets and you'll get a double rainbow. And, when the conditions are just right, and you're flying in a plane, a rainbow can appear as a full, unbroken circle. Amazing stuff!
A rainbow, of course, is also an amazing promise. In Genesis 9:13, God says, "I have set my rainbow in the clouds, as a sign of the covenant between me and the earth". We're reminded of that promise every time we see a rainbow. We're reminded that, even in the storm, the Son is with us. And, if we're paying attention, He will reveal Himself to us in an amazing way.
Keep an eye out for rainbows!
Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
