DETEC Names New General Manager

January 8, 2019 - Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative Board of Directors announced the hiring of Bryan Wood, at the board’s December meeting. Wood will succeed Doug Turk, who accepted the role of General Manager of Sam Houston Electric Cooperative in Livingston, Texas after 15 years with DETEC. Bryan Wood joined the cooperative as the seventh General Manager in DETEC’s 85-year history on January 7th.

Prior to joining DETEC, Bryan served as the Chief Financial Officer of Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative in Kaufman, Texas since 2011 and as the Billing and Collections Manager since 2008. Bryan began his career as an auditor for one of the Big Eight accounting firms in Dallas, Texas, where he reached the level of Senior Manager, with a number of large national and international clients. He joined one of those international clients as their Controller in 1991. During his tenure there he was promoted to Supply Chain Director and worked in Texas, Illinois and North Carolina. He returned to Texas in 1999 as Director of Financial Reporting for Dal-Tile Corporation, where he was responsible for their SEC filings. Bryan graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University in 1982 with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in the State of Texas since 1984.
