May 31, 2024 - Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative (DETEC) reports Thursday, May 30 evening storms caused much damage and outages across the system. At this time, outage restoration is anticipated to take several days. If you or someone in your home is dependent upon electronic medical equipment, seek a location with power. In the event of an emergency, call 911.
Assume all downed lines are live and dangerous, and stay far away. Use caution when operating a generator and follow manufacturer instructions, including not operating a generator indoors.
As of 2 PM, approximately 13,000 outages remain across the system. Following the storm on Thursday evening, almost 30,000 outages occurred.
